15.6″ HP Pavilion 15-BA079DX HD Touch Laptop
Black HP Pavilion 15-BA079DX is a new release, modern, budget priced laptop with a 15.6-inch high definition touch display, quarter 2 of 2016 release mid-range AMD A10-9600P processor, Radeon R5 graphics and a good range of connectivity. Technical specs include the Athlon II X4 quad-core AMD A10-9600P accelerated processor at 2.4GHz up to 3.3GHz speeds, 6GB DDR3L SDRAM (1 x 2GB, 1 x 4GB) at 1600MHz for simple, smooth and reliable multitasking (adequate at this level for most computer users), 1TB mechanical SATA hard drive at 5400rpm rotating speed for ample storage for all your music, photos and videos and 64-bit Windows 10 operating system. The AMD A10 CPU has a Thermal Design Power of 15 watts but the battery life isn’t amazing from its 3-cell, 31 Wh lithium ion battery and lasts about 3 to 4 hours at normal lighting.
15.6 inch diagonal WLED-lit HD SVA touch display has the regular 1366 x 768-pixel resolution for reasonable image quality. Radeon R5 is a very basic integrated graphics card and will let you play the older games at medium settings but not really the newer titles. Sound quality is acceptable through the integrated stereo speakers and DTS Studio Sound and has a front-facing HP TrueVision high-definition webcam with built-in digital microphone. HP Pavilion weighs 4.72 pounds and measures 15.1 x 10 x 0.9 inches- average thickness and weight and portable so you won’t have problems taking your work with you wherever you go as it weighs less than 5 pounds. It has a DVD-RW Optical Drive for CD’s and DVD’s, 2 x USB 2.0 ports, a USB 3.0 port, an HDMI output, 10/100 BASE-T Ethernet LAN with an RJ-45 connector, 802.11bgn wireless and a microSD Media Card Reader. There is no Bluetooth and you will need a Bluetooth adapter, which is very cheap. SSD prices are better than they used to be and you can replace the mechanical drive with SSD if you want to open your files faster and overall snappy performance.
It has a non-backlit keyboard with comfy keys, 10-key numeric pad and a good size and responsive trackpad with separate left and right click buttons. AMD A10-9600P can be compared to a third generation Intel i3 processor and is not too bad overall- is usually very comfortable in handling the daily tasks like web browsing, word processing, photo editing and some level of gaming with the right kind of graphics card. Mechanical hard drive is a little slow but is still nice to have such large storage space, touch functionality on the display adds a bit more convenience, portability due to lightweight and slim chassis, there are a DVD drive and a faster USB 3.0 port but you will find a bit of junkware on the system and takes much longer than it should, to boot up and when you get rid of the stuff you don’t need the performance will improve significantly. Overall this HP is a very decent laptop at less than 400 dollars but whether you want a PC with an AMD or an Intel processor is totally up to you and you may want to look at the alternatives offered on the Amazon product page, through the links here.
