11.6″ Acer Convertible Chromebook R11 via Amazon
White Acer Convertible Chromebook R11 (CB5-132T-C32M) is a convertible- 360 degree rotating 11.6 inch high definition touchscreen laptop with the early 2015 release quad core Braswell Intel Celeron N3150 processor (2MB cache) at 1.6GHz speed up to 2.08GHz with Intel Burst technology, 2GB DDR3L SDRAM onboard memory for basic multitasking, 32GB eMMC flash storage plus 100GB of Google Drive storage free for two years and Chrome operating system with constant auto updates and built-in virus protection.
It feels solid with a solid plastic case, an aluminium lid and dual torque hinge, has a textured metallic finish, weighs 2.76 pounds and has the 11.6 x 8 x 0.8 inches dimensions- slim, lightweight and portable and you can take it anywhere you go. It has a simplistic and kind of plain but attractive design (Asus Chromebook Flip looks more stylish but this one is better looking than the Dell Chromebook 11) but the focus is more on functionality, capability, portability, longer battery life and versatility as you can flip it up to 360 degrees around its hinge with dual torque technology to be used as a tablet with a responsive touch display. Keyboard has nicely spaced out textured keys that are comfortable to type on and no 10-key numeric pad because of limited space but touchpad is not its strongest point with its inconsistency but you have the touch screen and it is often a good idea to use a mouse with laptops if sitting at a desk.
11.6 inch widescreen LED backlit multitouch display is regular HD with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution (not Full HD) and 16:9 cinematic aspect ratio that supports 10 finger touch but has the IPS panel for larger viewing angles vertically and horizontally in different modes and this is essential in tablet mode and it has the Intel HD graphics (Braswell) and has an integrated HD (1280 x 720) quality webcam. For connectivity it includes 802.11ac wireless featuring MIMO (Dual-Band 2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.0, Secure Digital (SD) card reader, a USB 3.0 port for quicker data transfers, a USB 2.0 port, an HDMI output with HDCP support to connect to larger external displays or HDTV.
It has a bright touch display (not FHD but this is OK due to the small size of screen and FHD for crispier image would have taken the price up), stereo speakers with High-Definition Audio Support for decent sound performance and offers great performance in simple daily tasks and web browsing experience. You’ll get up to 10 hours of battery life from its 3-cell lithium ion battery (3220 mAh) so you don’t have to be near power outlets. As it can be rotated up to 360 degrees, you can use it in four different modes of normal laptop, stand, tent and tablet. If you will be using the computer mostly for internet use and if you’re happy with Chrome browser and other Google apps then this may be the perfect one for you, although you have higher performance convertible or non-convertible options in the Windows and Apple market but they will cost more and this Chromebook appears to be a decent options for features, performance and price.
